# Connecting Your Payroll

> Link your employer or gig platform to see your full pay - gross income, deductions, taxes, and pay stubs - not just deposits.

A payroll connection is separate from a bank connection. While a bank connection pulls balances and transactions, a payroll connection pulls your **employment and pay** data: employer, pay schedule, gross/net pay, deductions, taxes, and pay stubs.

You can have both - and on the free plan, the payroll slot is separate from the bank slot.

## How to connect payroll

1. Open [Banks, payroll & credit](https://app.checkrmoney.com/data/connections) - it's in the sidebar on desktop web, and under **Settings** on a phone and on iOS
2. Under **Add new**, choose **Payroll**
3. Sign in to your payroll provider through the secure connection widget

<Note>On iOS, the banner about seeing more than your deposits on the Income screen opens the same flow.</Note>

After you sign in, Checkr Money starts pulling your recent pay periods. The first sync usually appears within a few seconds.

## Gig and delivery work

If you drive, deliver, or shop for a gig platform, there are two ways to bring those earnings in, and you can use both.

* **As a bank** - connect the account your payouts land in. Start here when you can: the deposits come in as income, and the same connection also gives you spending, balances, and recurring tracking. See [How to Link Your Financial Accounts](/accounts/linking-financial-accounts).
* **As payroll** - connect the platform itself and sign in with the account you already use for work. Use this when you can't sign in to the bank or card behind your payouts, which is common with payout cards that have no online banking login of their own.

Platforms that connect as payroll include DoorDash, Uber, Lyft, Instacart, Amazon Flex, Spark Driver, Grubhub, and Shipt. Search for yours by name in step 3 above.

On the free plan the bank slot and the payroll slot are separate, so you can have one of each.

## What you unlock

A payroll connection adds detailed pay data on top of what bank deposits already show:

* **Gross vs. net pay** - what you actually earned vs. what hit your bank account
* **Deductions** - taxes (federal, state, FICA), insurance, retirement contributions, other withholdings
* **Employer info** - company name, role, pay schedule, tenure
* **Pay statements** - downloadable pay stubs (provider-dependent)

For details on how to read this data, see:

## Free vs Pro plan

* **Free plan** - 1 payroll connection (separate from the 1 bank connection slot)
* **Pro plan** - unlimited connections of both types

If you have multiple jobs, Pro is what you need to connect them all.

## Refreshing payroll data

<Note>
  On the web, payroll connections **don't have a manual Refresh button**, and the **Sync All** button on the Banks, payroll & credit page only syncs bank connections. Payroll data syncs automatically on a backend schedule when your provider posts a new pay period.

  On iOS, you can pull down to refresh on the Income screen to pick up newly synced pay periods.
</Note>

## Managing a payroll connection

Once connected, a payroll connection lives alongside your bank connections and you manage it the same way:

* View its status: see [what each status badge means](/accounts/managing-connections)
* Re-authenticate if it breaks: see [Reconnecting accounts](/accounts/reconnecting-accounts)
* Remove it: see [Removing an account](/accounts/removing-an-account)

<Tip>If your employer or gig platform isn't supported, Checkr Money still tracks your income from bank deposits - you just won't see gross-vs-net, deductions, or pay stubs until a payroll connection is added.</Tip>
