# Available tools

> Every tool the Developer MCP server exposes to your AI coding assistant.

Developer MCP exposes three tools: two read-only tools for finding and reading documentation, plus one for reporting documentation problems. Your AI assistant decides which to call based on your prompt - you don't need to invoke them directly.

| Tool | What it does |
| - | - |
| [search\_my\_truv](#search_my_truv) | Search the Checkr Money knowledge base for articles, guides, and API references |
| [query\_docs\_filesystem\_my\_truv](#query_docs_filesystem_my_truv) | Run read-only shell-like commands (`cat`, `rg`, `head`, `ls`) against a virtualized filesystem of the docs, including reading a full page |
| [submit\_feedback](#submit_feedback) | Report an incorrect, outdated, or confusing documentation page to the docs team |

***

## search\_my\_truv

Searches Checkr Money documentation for content matching your query. Returns matching pages with titles, snippets, and direct links. Use this when you need to find information without knowing the exact page path.

Parameters:

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| query | string | Yes | Search query (e.g. "how to connect a bank account") |

Response fields:

| Field | Type | Description |
| - | - | - |
| title | string | Page title |
| path | string | Page path (read it with `query_docs_filesystem_my_truv`, e.g. `cat /billing/subscription-plans.mdx`) |
| content | string | Relevant content snippet |
| url | string | Direct link to the page |

Example prompt: *"What security measures does Checkr Money use?"*

The tool is called with a query like `"security data protection"` and returns matching pages such as *How Your Data Is Protected*, *Is Checkr Money Safe?*, and *Who Can See My Data?*.

## query\_docs\_filesystem\_my\_truv

Runs a read-only, shell-like command against a virtualized in-memory filesystem that contains only the Checkr Money documentation pages and OpenAPI specs. Nothing runs on your machine or any server - it is a sandbox backed by documentation content. This is also how you read a full page: there is no separate "get page" tool.

Parameters:

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| command | string | Yes | A shell-like command to run against the docs filesystem (e.g. `cat /api-reference/overview.mdx`, `rg -il "rate limit" /`, `tree / -L 2`) |

Supported commands: `rg`, `grep`, `find`, `tree`, `ls`, `cat`, `head`, `tail`, `stat`, `wc`, `sort`, `uniq`, `cut`, `sed`, `awk`, `jq`, plus basic text utilities. No writes and no network access.

To read a page, pass its path with a leading slash and the `.mdx` extension, for example `cat /billing/subscription-plans.mdx` or `head -80 /api-reference/overview.mdx`. Each call is stateless: the working directory resets to `/` every time, so use absolute paths or chain commands with `&&` in a single call.

Example prompt: *"Show me the full page about subscription plans."*

The assistant runs `cat /billing/subscription-plans.mdx` and returns the complete content of that page.

## submit\_feedback

Reports a problem with a documentation page to the Checkr Money docs team. Use it when a page is incorrect, outdated, confusing, or has a broken example. This is for feedback about the documentation itself, not product support.

Parameters:

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| path | string | Yes | The documentation page path the feedback is about (e.g. `api-reference/overview`) |
| feedback | string | Yes | A clear description of what is incorrect or could be improved |

Example prompt: *"The spending analysis example looks wrong, report it to the docs team."*
