# How Insights Are Generated

> Where insights come from, what they need to be accurate, and what you see while Checkr Money is still analyzing.

Checkr Money generates insights automatically from the account data you've connected - bank transactions, balances, recurring activity, and pay statements. The insights you see are tied to your specific account, not generic advice.

## Where the data comes from

The system looks at:

* **Your transaction history** - how you spend across categories and merchants, and how that changes month over month
* **Your income** - frequency, amounts, and any deviation from your normal pattern
* **Your recurring activity** - subscriptions, bills, and how they evolve over time
* **Your account balances** - movement across accounts and your overall net worth

The more accounts you connect and the longer your history, the more reliable insights become.

## How long it takes

Some categories of insights need a few weeks of transaction history before Checkr Money has enough signal to surface them. If you have only just connected your accounts, the [Feed](https://app.checkrmoney.com/data/highlights) tells you it is still gathering what it needs.

Once Checkr Money has looked at what you have:

* Insights appear on Home and in the full [Feed](https://app.checkrmoney.com/data/highlights)
* If there still isn't enough to go on, the Feed says it needs more data - usually a longer transaction history, sometimes another connected account

## What affects accuracy

* **Quality of connected data** - missing or out-of-date account connections (a disconnected bank, a broken payroll link) reduce coverage. Keep your connections healthy on [Banks, payroll & credit](https://app.checkrmoney.com/data/connections).
* **Account breadth** - connecting bank + payroll gives Checkr Money a fuller picture than bank alone.
* **History length** - subscription detection and recurring-pattern insights stabilize after a few months of transactions.
