# Tracking Your Subscriptions

> See every recurring charge Checkr Money detected on your accounts, with status, frequency, and the next expected payment.

Checkr Money scans your transaction history for charges that repeat on a schedule and gathers them all on the Recurring view, so you always know what you're paying for.

## Where to find your subscriptions

Open [Recurring](https://app.checkrmoney.com/data/recurring) - that's the dedicated home for every recurring series Checkr Money detected.

The Summary screen also shows an **Upcoming** widget with the next few bills and income at a glance. Use it for a quick peek, or open Recurring for the full list.

## How subscriptions are detected

Checkr Money groups charges into a recurring series when it sees the same merchant charging on a regular schedule (weekly, monthly, annual, and so on). No manual setup is needed. The detection is signal-based, not a hard-coded list of companies, so any merchant that bills you on a cadence can show up - streaming, gym, insurance, utilities, software, you name it.

<Note>Checkr Money only **detects and tracks** subscriptions. It does not cancel them for you. To cancel, go to the merchant directly.</Note>

## What you'll see for each subscription

* **Merchant name** - the company you're subscribed to
* **Amount** - what you pay per billing cycle
* **Frequency** - Monthly, Weekly, Biweekly, Semi-Monthly, Annually, Semi-Annually, or Commission
* **Next expected date** - when the next charge is expected, or a relative label like "Today" or "in 5 days"
* **Status** - Active by default; series can also be **Pending**, **Inactive** (a long-running series that hasn't billed lately), or **Irregular** (a series with inconsistent intervals)
* **Category** - the spending category Checkr Money assigned

<Note>To change the category of a recurring series, the path differs by platform. On **iOS**, open the subscription's detail view from Recurring and change the category there - that change re-categorizes the merchant across the rest of Checkr Money too. On the **web**, change the category from a matching transaction on the **Transactions** page (the Recurring detail view doesn't have an in-place category edit).</Note>

For payment-by-payment detail, open the subscription's detail view and see [Subscription History](/recurring/subscription-history).

## Filtering and searching

The Recurring view supports filtering on both platforms, but the controls and a few details differ.

<Note>
  **On the web** - the list has its own **Search** field for filtering by merchant or description, plus filters for **Status** (All / Active / Inactive / Irregular), **Frequency**, and **Category** (pick one or more). **Clear all** resets every active filter at once. The page also shows two totals near the top - monthly income and monthly expenses with the yearly equivalent - and the **All** tab groups subscriptions by category with a monthly subtotal per category (Uncategorized at the bottom).

  **On iOS** - the Recurring page has its own search box in the top bar for filtering by merchant. Filters live in a Filter panel and cover **Time period**, **Status**, **Category**, and **Sort**. **Reset** clears every active filter at once.

  <Tip>Recurring became searchable in Checkr Money iOS 1.9. Before 1.9 the page had no search of its own.</Tip>

  <Tip>The **Sort** control (due date or amount, ascending or descending) reorders the list in Checkr Money iOS 1.7 and later. In earlier versions the control could be set but the order never changed.</Tip>
</Note>

On the web and in Checkr Money iOS 1.8 and later, the Status filter defaults to **All**, so cancelled and stopped subscriptions are already in the list and there is nothing to switch. Ended series carry an **Inactive** badge.

<Tip>**On Checkr Money iOS 1.7 and earlier** the Status filter defaults to **Active**, so non-active series are hidden until you change it. If a subscription you remember (like a cancelled one) seems missing, switch Status to **All** or **Inactive**.</Tip>

## What the tracker helps you do

* See every active recurring charge in one place, separate from one-off transactions
* Spot subscriptions you may have forgotten about
* Track how much your subscriptions add up to each month
* Anticipate upcoming charges before they hit (see [Viewing Upcoming Bills](/recurring/viewing-upcoming-bills))

## Marking or removing a subscription yourself

If Checkr Money missed a subscription, or flagged something that isn't one, you can correct it.

<Note>
  **On iOS** (Checkr Money iOS 1.8 and later) - use the in-app controls below.

  **On the web** - open a transaction and choose **Add to recurring** from its menu to flag it yourself. If the detector got a merchant wrong, ask your AI assistant to remove it from Recurring entirely. See [Meet Your AI Assistant](/assistant/meet-your-ai-assistant).
</Note>

* **Add a one-off charge to Recurring** - open the transaction, tap the **...** menu, and choose **Add to recurring**. There's no "this one / all of them" question: one flagged charge promotes the whole merchant into a series, so it shows up on the Recurring view straight away. The action is hidden on income transactions.
* **Take a charge back out** - on a recurring transaction the same menu reads **Remove from recurring** and asks how far it reaches. **Only this transaction** clears the Recurring label on that one charge; the series itself stays, and the charge is still counted in its history and upcoming totals. To stop tracking the merchant, use the option below.
* **Drop the whole series** - choose **All \<merchant> transactions** from that same prompt, or open the series from the Recurring view and use its **...** menu's **Not recurring** entry. Either one retracts a series Checkr Money detected on its own, and this is the option to use when a merchant should not be tracked at all.

<Warning>Removing a merchant from Recurring is sticky. The series will not be re-detected later on its own, so use it only when the detection is genuinely wrong.</Warning>

<Note>Editing a detected series' fields directly - its amount, frequency, or next expected date - isn't possible on either platform. Those are derived from your transaction history and update on their own as new charges arrive.</Note>

<Tip>Review your subscriptions every month or two. Many people are surprised to find they're still paying for services they no longer use.</Tip>
