The Transactions page on each platform has a rich set of filters so you can answer questions like “what did I spend on dining last month from my Chase card?” without scrolling through everything.

Where filters live

Open Transactions. Filters, search, and sort all live on that page.

What you can filter by

Both platforms cover the core dimensions; each exposes a few of its own. Both platforms mark the filter control while any filter is active, so you can see at a glance that the list is narrowed. On the web it also carries the number of active filters.
On iOS the filter sheet opens with Date range, Category, Sort by, Group by, Time period and Transaction type. Time period is not a date filter - it sets how wide each group is when you group by time: Daily, Weekly or Monthly. Account, Merchant, Amount range, Status, Show hidden and Transactions review (All / Reviewed / Needs review) sit behind See more filters - tap it to reveal them. Close the sheet with Done, or clear everything with Reset.
The iOS filter sheet was rebuilt in Checkr Money iOS 1.9, which dropped the date-range filter. Checkr Money iOS 1.10 brought it back in the filter sheet.

Recurring, transfers, and notes on the web

In Filters on the web, three filters each have three choices:
  • Recurring - only recurring charges, or only one-off ones.
  • Internal transfers - only money moved between your own accounts, or everything except it.
  • Note - only transactions you wrote a note on, or only the ones without a note.
Leave a filter on All to skip it.

How to filter by category

Open Filters (web) or the filter sheet (iOS), then pick a category under the Category section:
  • On the web - pick one or more categories (multi-select). Custom categories you have created appear here alongside the standard list.
  • On iOS - pick a single category from the picker.
The list updates as soon as you apply. For category-level analysis with a chart, see Spending by Category.

Viewing and restoring hidden transactions

By default, transactions you have hidden from totals are excluded from the list. To see them again - and restore them if you want - open the Filters panel on either platform and turn on the Show hidden transactions toggle. Hidden transactions then appear in the list with a Hidden from totals badge below the amount, but they remain excluded from your spending summaries until you restore them. To restore a hidden transaction:
  1. Open Filters and turn on Show hidden transactions.
  2. Open the hidden transaction’s detail view.
  3. From the transaction’s menu, choose Unhide (web) or Unhide transaction (iOS).
The transaction is then counted in your totals again on both web and iOS.

Combining filters

All filters are additive - the transaction list shows entries matching every active filter. Combine, for example, a date range with a category and an account to see “everything I spent on Food & Drink from my Chase card last month.”

Clearing filters

On the web, you have a few options:
  • The × on any active filter removes just that filter.
  • Clear all removes every active filter at once.
  • Reset all inside Filters does the same.
  • If the active filters leave you with no results, the empty-state Clear all filters button has the same effect.
On iOS - active filters show as chips above the list. Tap the × on a chip to remove just that filter, or open the filter sheet and tap Reset to clear everything.
Active-filter chips are available in Checkr Money iOS 1.10 and later.

Changing a transaction’s category

Open a transaction, then:
  • On the web - use its menu and select Change category, or click the category itself.
  • On iOS - tap the Category row.
Either way you can apply the change to just this transaction, or to every transaction from that merchant, past and future. If none of the built-in categories fits, type a new name and create it as a custom category. Custom categories work the same as built-in ones and appear in the category filter alongside the standard list - see Custom Category Names. See Viewing Your Transactions for the full list of transaction actions.
Use category + date filters together to answer “did I spend more on restaurants this month than last?” - then sort by amount to find the biggest single charges.
